The 99 Club

This is an inspiring and interesting story i got to read in an article...Just wanted to share with all of you...

THE 99 CLUB

Some time ago, there lived a King. This King should have been contented with his life, given all the riches and luxuries he had. However, this was not the case! The King always found himself wondering why he just never seemed content with his life.
Sure, he had the attention of everyone wherever he went, attended fancy dinners and parties, but somehow, he still felt something was lacking and he couldn't put his finger on it.
One day, the King had woken up earlier than usual to stroll around his palace. He entered his huge living room and came to a stop when he heard someone happily singing away... following this singing... he saw one of the servants singing with a very contented look on his face.
This fascinated the King and he summoned this man to his chambers. The man entered the King's chambers as or dered. The King asked why him he was so happy? To this the man replied:
"Your Majesty, I am nothing but a servant, but I make enough of a living to keep my wife and children happy. We don't need too much; a roof over our heads and warm food to fill our stomach. My wife and children are my inspiration, they are content with what ever little I bring home. I am happy because my family is happy."
Hearing this, the King dismissed the servant and summoned his personal advisor to his chamber. The King told him of his predicament and then related the story of the servant, hoping that the advisor will be able to come up with some reason why the King, who could have any thing he wished for at the snap of his fingers, was not content, whereas, his servant, having so little, seemed the picture of contentment.
The personal advisor listened attentively and came to a conclusion. He said, "Your Majesty, I believe that the servant has not been made part of The 99 Club."
"The 99 Club? And what exactly is that?" the King inquired. Feb 18 (1 day ago) Deepti The advisor replied, "Your Majesty, to truly know what The 99 Club is, you will have to do the following. Place 99 gold coins in a bag and leave it at the servant's doorstep and you will come to under stand what The 99 Club is."
That very same evening, the King arranged for 99 gold coins to be placed in a bag at the servant's doorstep. He was a little hesitant and thought that he should have put 100 gold coins into the bag, but he followed his advisor’s suggestion to put only 99.
The servant was just stepping out of his house when he saw a bag at his doorstep. Wondering about its contents, he took it into his house and opened the bag. When he opened the bag, he let out a great big shout of joy, ‘Gold coins... so many of them!’ He could hardly believe it. He called his wife to show her the coins.
He then took the bag to a table and emptied it out and began to count the coins and found that there seemed to be 99. He thought this to be an odd number and a little strange and so he counted again… and again… and again - only to come to the same conclusion.. . 99 gold coins.
He began to wonder, ‘What could have happened to that last one coin?’ For no one would leave 99 coins. He began to search his entire house and even looked around his backyard for hours, not wanting to lose out on that one coin
Finally, exhausted, he decided that he was going to have to work harder than ever to make up for that one gold coin to make his entire collection a magical 100 gold coins.
The next morning he got up late in an extremely horrible mood, shouting at the children and his wife for his delay, not realizing that he had spent most of the night conjuring ways of working hard so that he could make enough money to buy himself that gold coin. He went to work as usual - not in his usual good mood, singing happily – and grumpily carried out his daily errands. The King was puzzled to see the man's attitude changed so drasti cally. He promptly sum moned his advisor. The King could not believe that the servant, who until yesterday had been singing away, happy and content with his life, had taken such a sudden change of mind, even though he should have been happier after receiving the gold coins.
The advisor replied "Ah! But your Majesty, the servant has now officially joined The 99 Club." He explained: "The 99 Club is just a name given to those people who have everything but yet are never contented. Therefore, they are always working hard and striving for that extra one to round it up to 100!”
“We have so much to be thankful for and we can live with very little in our lives, but the minute we are given something bigger and better, we want even more! We are not the same happy contented person we used to be, we want more and more and by wanting more and more we don't realize the price we pay for it. We lose our sleep, our happiness; we hurt the people around us just as a price to pay for our growing needs and desires. That is what joining The 99 Club is all about."
MORAL
Observing this powerful, real life example, the King decided that from that day onwards, he was going to start appreciating all the little things in life and count the many blessings that he had taken for granted.

Striving for more is always good, but let us not strive so hard that we lose all that is dear to our hearts. Let us not compromise our happiness for moments of luxury! Let us remember Swami's words,

“Happiness results not when desires are fulfilled, but when they are controlled.”

Mayonnaise jar & 2 cups of Coffee

Recently a very good friend of mine shared below story with me..I was very impressed by the story and thought of sharing with u all....

When things in your life seem, almost too much to handle,When 24 Hours in a day is not enough,Remember the mayonnaise jar and 2 cups of coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly,He picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jarAnd proceeded to fill it with golf balls.
He then asked the students, if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.
The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and pouredthem into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open Areas between the golf balls.
He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar.Of course, the sand filled up everything else.He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous ‘yes.’
The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectivelyfilling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.
‘Now,’ said the professor, as the laughter subsided,‘I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things - family, children, health, Friends, and Favorite passionsThings that if everything else was lost and only they remained, Your life would still be full.
The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, house, and car.
The sand is everything else –The small stuff.
‘If you put the sand into the jar first,’ He continued, there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life.
If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff,You will never have room for the things that are important to you.
So…
Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.Play With your children.Take time to get medical checkups.Take your partner out to dinner.
There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal.
‘Take care of the golf balls first –The things that really matter.Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.’
One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented.
The professor smiled.‘I’m glad you asked’.
It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there’s always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.’
Please share this with other “Golf Balls”I just did……

HIV Spreading from Needles

Recently got a mail from my friend regarding fast spreading HIV virus.Just wanted to share this mail with all of you.

FROM Arvind Khamitkar , I.A.S, Director of Medical & Research Div, Chennai

A few weeks ago, in a movie theatre, a person felt something poking from her seat. When she got up to see what it was, she found a needle sticking out of the seat with a note attached saying
"You have just been infected by HIV".

The Disease Control Center (in Paris ) reports many similar events in many other cities recently. All tested needles were HI V Positive.

The Center also reports that needles have been found in cash dispensers at public banking machines. We ask everyone to use extreme caution when faced with this kind of situation. All public chairs/seats should be inspected with vigilance and caution before use. A careful visual inspection should be enough. In addition, they ask that each of you pass this message along to all members of your family and your friends of the potential danger.

Recently, one doctor has narrated a somewhat similar instance that hppened to one of his patients at the Priya Cinema in Delhi . A young girl, engaged and about to be married in a couple of months, was pricked while the movie was going on. The tag with the needle had the message
"Welcome to the World of HIV family".

Though the doctors told her family that it takes about 6 months before the virus grows strong enough to start damaging the system and a healthy victim could survive about 5-6 years, the girl died in 4 months, perhaps more because of the "Shock thought".

We all have to be careful at public places, rest God help! Just think about saving a life by spreading this message. Please, take a few seconds of your time to pass along.

Be Careful

Be Extremely Careful especially if using internet mail such as Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL and so on. You may receive an apparently harmless email with a Power Point presentation 'Life is beautiful.'
If you receive it DO NOT OPEN THE FILE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES , and delete it immediately ... If you open this file, a message will appear on your screen saying: 'It is too late now, your life is no longer beautiful.'
Subsequently you will LOSE EVERYTHING IN YOUR PC and the person who sent it to you will gain access to your name, e-mail and password. This is a new virus which have started to circulate
AOL has already confirmed the severity, and the antivirus software's are not capable of destroying it.The virus has been created by a hacker who calls himself 'life owner.

An ATM Tip

If you are ever forced by a thief or someone to take money out of an ATM machine, enter your pin number reversed. So if your number is 1254 mark 4521.

The ATM machine will give you your money, but will automatically recognize this as a plea for help and will alert the police unknown to the thief.

This option is in all ATM machines, but not many people know this

Inconvenience caused by NIIT

I have been pursuing a diploma course in web 2.0 in NIIT Vijayanagar, Bangalore. I had registered for this program in feb 2009. I have already completed (with exams) the flash, dreamweaver and C# courses during the period of feb to aug 2009. however, due to personal travel reasons, I had requested for a break of 2 months. after returing from travel in oct 2009, I tried to enquire and attend the cold fusion and flex courses in NIIT Vijayanagar and/or elsewhere in Bangalore (Koramangala, Jayanagar).
But there was repeated delay in servicing these courses to me. I was being provided tentative dates like november last week, december 2nd week, january 2nd week, february 1st week and so on. Till now there has been a lack of transparency with respect to providing the courses inspite of following it up with group leader. there has been a visible delay in helping me for placements too. I dint receive any job opportunities or interview calls inspite of sending my resume to niit placement co-ordinator.
I have seen that there is a lack of ownership and lack of proper response to my enquiries & requests in the Vijayanagar center and other centers (Jayanagar) in Bangalore. although there is apparently a daily batch going on in koramangala/jayanagar, I am told that I can join that only after 2 weeks. at the time of paying the amount dues and registering for the course, it was agreed that the classes would be conducted in vijayanagar for a period of 3-4 months and classes would be atleast 2 hours for three days a week. Now I am being told that daily classes for only 1 hour each would be held in koramangala which is at a long distance from vijayanagar.
Overall all these institutes just boast good servicing till whole amount is paid. Then the same old story of students suffering from lack of service, lack of response and wasting student's precious time and money...

Noble story to learn from

Ever heard the story of the giant ship engine that failed? The ship's ownerstried one expert after another, but none of them could figure but how to fixthe engine.
Then they brought in an old man who had been fixing ships since he was ayoungster. He carried a large bag of tools with him, and when he arrived, heimmediately went to work. He inspected the engine very carefully, top tobottom.
Two of the ship's owners were there, watching this man, hoping he would knowwhat to do. After looking things over, the old man reached into his bag andpulled out a small hammer. He gently tapped something. Instantly, the engine lurched into lifeHe carefully put his hammer away. The engine was fixed! A week later, the owners received a bill from the old man for ten thousand dollars."What?!" the owners exclaimed. "He hardly did anything!"So they wrote the old man a note saying, "Please send us an itemized bill."The man sent a bill that readTapping with a hammer $ 2.00Knowing where to ......... $ 9998.00
Effort is important, but knowing where to make an effort in your life makes all the difference.
